March, the old adage says “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” When I look back at my photos of March, it doesn’t look like the “in like a lion” portion held true since some of my photos from early in the month show that it was the thaw after the winter’s first snow. The Jean Baptiste Bequette House in Ste. Genevieve, MO was built around 1780. This French creole vernacular post in the ground house is medium-sized (about 36 feet long) with a central chimney. The original hipped roof with king-post trusses and the encircling porches, or galleries, have been restored.
Another image from the Missouri Botanical Garden yesterday morning. In warmer weather visitors can stand on this bridge and feed the koi. The gentleman on the bridge was another photographer out in the flurries. While it was cold and a bit wet I’m glad I was out. By this afternoon all of the snow is gone off the trees, roads, and structures. Quite a bit has also melted off the grassy areas so the opportunity for these images was short […]
