Massachusetts #1

After leaving Connecticut it was a short drive to our next stop in Massachusetts.  We camped at a military recreation area, Fourth Cliff, about halfway between Boston and Cape Cod.  Our campground was surrounded on three sides by water.  After settling in we went to the nearby town of Scituate for a little sight seeing and for dinner.

The first stop was the harbor.

We thought the name of this boat and their decoration were humorous.

From the harbor, we went to the lighthouse.  According to information shared at our campground, these waters are among the most dangerous along the Atlantic coast due to currents created by the North River.

The lighthouse also has some unique history associated with it.

From the lighthouse it was off to dinner (seafood, naturally) then back to the campground for the night.  The next morning the coastal fog had us really socked in early.

The fog didn’t last long and soon there were great views of some of the tidal marshes.
